The four month challenge

Well I'd completely forgotten about this blog until a few days ago, but since Joe has gambled off to do journalism in Brighton, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to put pen to paper (or keys) again and see what I could come up with.

Considering how poorly I got on with the  '101 things to do in 1001 days' challenge (I might do an update to see whether I've even managed to do 50% of the things on there.... I doubt it!), I've set myself some  more realistic challenges to do while Joe's away (Although, lets be honest - history shows that any sort of deadline based challenge is bigger than it looks when I'm involved!).

So, without any further ado, here are my challenges for the next four months:

. Make one thing from Pinterest every week (bigger projects can have two weeks)
. Discover at least one new artist / band that I love each month and buy their album
. Lose 1st 10lb / drop 2 dress sizes
. Go to bed at 10.15pm every school night
. Pay off my overdraft..... That's £625 per month (gulp!) Hello overtime!!
. Complete the four month book challenge (see below)

And last, and knowing myself by far the hardest to complete

. Complete 3 kettlebell work outs per week
. Complete minimum 1 hr cardio per week

So... Those are the challenges I've set myself! I think it's all pretty realistic and at the very least it should keep me out of trouble while Joe's away. I have given myself an incentive to stay on track.... A holiday!!! I'm so desperate to go away again but I definitely can't afford it while I'm in my overdraft... nor can I imagine even looking at a bikini at the moment so if I do well, then sun here I come!

I'll try to keep the blog updated with how I'm getting on and I'll let you know whether I have any major incidents (come on.... me and kettlebells, in my living room... with a brand new house mate. There's a recipe for disaster right there). If any one is interested in the four month book challenge - follow the link below and let me know so we can swap notes!

Heather Williams' Art

I love these prints from artist Heather Williams, who designed the logo for one of my favourite online vintage shops and bloggers When Decades Collide. Check out her Etsy shop here.

Maps maps maps

I've always loved maps of all shapes and sizes but especially ancient maps that show how a city or country has changed. You can spend hours looking through local and national archives at the places you know and love, to see how they have grown. Ever since reading 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' I've dreamt of having a room dedicated to displaying maps of all the places I have visited around the world, as she does in the book. I love the idea of having ancient maps like these ones alongside modern ones.

Grand aspirations

Who doesn't love the romance of a beautiful bookcase, stacked with hundreds of books just begging to be read? The website Bookshelf Porn collects thousands of photos of bookshelves in a thousand different styles and it is blissfully easy to get lost just browsing through the photos.
